Saltaire Trip

Saltaire.png

Mansfield and Sherwood Ramblers enjoyed a very successful joint trip to Saltaire. Members from Bassetlaw, Ravenshead Barlborough groups also accompanied us on our first joint venture.
Sue led an interesting 8 mile walk through woods, glens and by the canal locks.
Steve led a short walk round Saltaire.
Afterwards we had free time to explore this historical interesting town and enjoy the various events at the Saltaire Festival.
The free raffle and quiz on the return journey ensured that everyone left with a smile on their face.
Hopefully we will be arranging more joint ventures in the future.

Walks Programme- we still have some walks dates not filled: 23rd &29th September, 2nd, 16th, 23rd & 30th December, if

Anyone would like to volunteer do to a walk on any of these dates please contact Sue Rick 07799764848.

There are still some places left on the Ramblers Roadshow at Lincoln
on 29th September if anyone is interested I have room in my car for 2 people.

Walk on Sunday 2 September

Julie Lawson led a 5 mile walk with a great turnout of 20 people.
The walk went along the River Maun on Quarry Lane through the Oakham Nature Reserve and on to King's Mill Reservoir with a
short stop for refreshments at the volunteer cafe.
After circling the reservoir we took a slight diversion to the Heronry and Dead Man's Pool.
The return brought us back via the bridge and cinder path.over Sheepbridge Lane before crossing the impressive viaduct spanning
Quarry Lane.
Julie shared various snippets of local history along the way.
Why not join our friendly group on a future short or long walk.
All welcome.
